For Roignant, photography is never about capturing a nice picture but about finding the story hidden inside a moment, an instinct he traces directly to his work in cinema. Whether photographing a wedding, a landscape nude, or directing a fiction short, he treats every subject as a scene with its own tension, rhythm and quiet beats, working in colour or black and white depending on what the story demands rather than habit. His Nikon journey began at a moment when he had fallen out of love with photography itself, until a brief encounter with a Nikon Z6 gave him back the urge to create. That desire led him to the Nikon Z7 II, his true entry point into the Nikon ecosystem, and eventually to his current setup: a Nikon Z8 as his main camera, a Nikon Zf as backup, and a Nikon ZR for film work, alongside NIKKOR Z lenses including the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S and NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S. He credits the Nikon Z8's autofocus with helping him capture fleeting, low-light moments at weddings, and values the way Nikon's mirrorless system lets him work instinctively, without hesitation, whatever the story calls for.
